Introducing the new employee of Goyang Convention & Visitors Bureauโœจ

Q: Please introduce yourself.
A: Hello, I’m Senior Staff Lim Jeong-eon, the new employee of Goyang Convention & Visitors Bureau๐Ÿ’•!

Q: What kind of experience did you have before joining Goyang CVB?
A: I majored in Hotel Tourism Management. When I was still in college, my goal was to get a job at a large famous hotel brand, so I had more hotel-related experience than MICE-related activities back then. I’ve also interned at a five-star๐ŸŒŸ hotel in Osaka, Japan, with a recommendation from the department head. After graduation, I worked as a contractor in charge of the “Goyang International Conference Complex Revitalization Project” at Goyang CVB for about 2 years and started to learn about the MICE industry.

Q: What was your motivation for applying to a position at Goyang CVB?
A: My motivation to apply for a job in the MICE industry from Hotel Tourism Management was, I was taking a class one day, and even though MICE is a relatively new concept compared to tourism to the public, it was attractive in that it’s a high-value-added industry with significant economic effect. I think I turned my attention๐Ÿ‘€ to the MICE industry, wanting to raise public awareness of this attractive industry. And the fact that I could do urban marketing for Goyang City, the city I have been living in for more than 20 years, as a MICE city, and I also liked that Goyang Convention & Visitors Bureau is conducting innovative projects among the regional CVBs.

Q: What are you working on at Goyang Convention & Visitors Bureau?
A: Goyang City has the “Goyang MICE Incubator,” which opened its doors in 2019 for the first time in the MICE industry. It educates and incubates the workers in the MICE-related industry to strengthen Goyan City’s MICE industry foundation and create a virtuous business cycle ecosystem. Continuing from 2020 and 2021, I’m in charge of operating “Goyang MICE Incubator” this year as well๐Ÿ‘. Additionally, I’m responsible for supporting Goyang Convention & Visitors Bureau’s media PR/marketing, Goyang MICE Alliance operation project, and middle-aged worker training business.

Q: Please show off the strengths of Goyang MICE.
A: First of all, as previously mentioned, Goyang City is executing many innovative projects. In 2017, before the importance of “sustainabilityโ˜˜” emerged nationwide, we joined GDS-I and were evaluated for sustainability practice annually, continuously putting effort into becoming a sustainable city. In 2018, we were designated as “Goyang International Conference Complex” for the first time as a local government, and we are promoting several projects by connecting the MICE facilities centered around KINTEX to promote the convenience of the visitors!

Q: How does it feel to be the newest addition to Goyang Convention & Visitors Bureau, which hired a new employee for the first time in 5 years?
A: As a native of Goyang City for over 20 years, I’m very proud and grateful that I could join the organization responsible for Goyang’s urban marketing. I will be the newest employee who works hard so that Goyang City can be reborn as the center of MICE in Asia. Fighting๐Ÿ˜ป
