Hangout Inc. a MICE-specialized event agency, is drawing attention by offering solutions to this kind of ‘mismatch’. Hangout has been steadily enhancing the quality of its MICE job matching app, ‘Hangin’.
We asked CEO Bang Chang-joo about how he was able to establish himself so quickly in the MICE industry.
– Nice to meet you. Could you introduce your company?
“Hello. Hangout Inc. was established in October 2023 and has been running and managing various events since. We’re trying various approaches to solve inefficient work processes and sources of instability through technology.”
– Hangout gained recognition as a promising MICE startup by winning the ‘2024 Goyang MICE-Linked Startup League.’
“I believe the judges appreciated our recruitment solution, Hangin. I created Hangin based on my 10+ years of hands-on experience as an event staff member and manager. The app improves inefficiencies in the hiring process through optimized UI/UX. For instance, event managers often feel uneasy when workers 'no-show' on the event day or when the personnel do not fit the event. Hangin provides a way to connect with verified personnel to solve such issues.”
– You founded the company after working in HR and general affairs. What led you to enter the MICE industry?
“Before working in HR, I had experience as a MICE event staff member and freelancer, which gave me lasting interest and insight into the industry.
While working in HR, I gained more understanding of personnel operations and corporate events. This helped me develop my own insights into the field, and after deciding to start a business, I began tackling the challenges of the market.”
– You've been based at the Goyang MICE Promotion Center for two years. What motivated you to join?
“We moved in as part of the prize for winning the 2024 Goyang MICE-Linked Startup League. The main reason I decided to join—and the biggest benefit—was networking. There are many startup incubators, but few spaces dedicated solely to MICE companies, so this place feels unique. With Goyang City and KINTEX playing key roles as MICE hubs for Korea and Asia, there are also great opportunities available. Going forward, I want to contribute to building a sustainable MICE industry ecosystem in partnership with Goyang City.”
