On June 12, Goyang Convention Bureau successfully held the “2025 Goyang MICE Sustainability Campaign” at Gawaji Plaza in front of the Daehwa-dong Community Service Center in Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang City.
This event involved making kimchi using young radish (yeolmu), a specialty product of Goyang, and sharing it with local community residents.
Through this, the Bureau put ESG values (Environmental, Social, and Governance) into practice and worked together with members of the Goyang MICE Alliance to promote regional coexistence.
A representative from Goyang Convention Bureau shared the following:
“Now in its 5th year, the Goyang MICE Sustainability Campaign holds great significance in that it presents a platform for cooperation between the local community and the industry.”
On the day of the campaign, about 40 people participated, including Goyang Convention Bureau employees, members of the Goyang MICE Alliance, tenant companies from the Goyang MICE Promotion Center, and representatives from the Daehwa-dong Resident Council.
Participants made kimchi using locally sourced young radish and red pepper powder and delivered the kimchi directly to underprivileged residents in the community—putting into action warm sharing with neighbors.
Lee Dong-hwan, Chairman of Goyang Convention Bureau (Mayor of Goyang Special City), has a strong commitment to ensuring that Goyang’s MICE industry grows together with the local community:
“This campaign is an activity in which Goyang’s MICE stakeholders return ESG values to the local community. We will continue to link local resources with the MICE industry and spread the value of sustainability.”
