Do you still think of VIP speakers giving blackboard-style lectures when thinking of international conventions? Do you think keynotes, panel discussions, and Q&A are all that international conferences have to offer? It's time for international conferences to change. Attendees should break away from the position of listeners and be given the opportunity to get more hands-on experiences such as practical simulations and workshops, and networking opportunities should become more common, allowing attendees to exchange views and share ideas freely anytime, anywhere. Many MICE experts agree that international conferences must offer these kinds of engagement to survive.

An international conference no one has experienced before will take place in KINTEX. It is an international convergence convention where more than 1,000 participants stay in the “camp village” and have intensive discussions for two nights and three days, Contents Universe Korea 2023 (CUK 2023)!

To be held at KINTEX (Hall 7B, Hall 8) from November 9-11, CUK 2023 is the first international convergence conference of its kind this year. As an inaugural event, innovative concepts and programs await you. Under the theme of “Convergence of Artificial Intelligence and K-content,” a total of 50 sessions of conferences, exhibitions, hands-on workshops, and competitions will be held around the clock for 24 hours.

The overall concept starts by inviting participants to enter the UNIVERSE that is contents. Participants will explore four planets of Idea (creativity), Technophoria (future), Ecocity (environment and culture), and Neobase (digital) to enhance creative inspiration and understanding of different areas. Based on the inspiration from the planets, new values and ideas create the main planet (Aurora). Instead of leaving the participants as mere listeners, CUK 2023 gives them the freedom and responsibility to lead them to engage in creative activities.

What makes Contents Universe Korea unique is that it runs 24 hours round the clock. The 1,000 participants will stay in a specially built “camp village” at the venue. The participants, content, and partner companies will share knowledge and experiences around the theme of K-content and create new values. Since participants will stay during the entire day, they will demonstrate outstanding focus in each session.

The event features a great lineup of speakers to explore the universe of contents with the participants. The sessions are filled with leaders and experts from global companies heading the content market, including Daeseong Park, Head of External Policy for the Asia-Pacific Region at Roblox, Hyunsong Lee, CEO of Smart Study Ventures (Pinkfong), Taeyeop Kim, CEO of Papaya, Hanwoo Park, Professor of Media and Communication at Yeungnam University, and Sanghee Jeong, Managing Director of SAP Korea.

At Roblox, the world’s leading metaverse game platform, CEO Daeseong Park is responsible for establishing the company’s recruitment and promotion strategy for the Asia-Pacific region. CEO Hyunsong Lee will share the global success strategy of Pinkfong and Baby Shark, which have captivated children worldwide, and his know-how in fostering Korean startups. Moreover, CEO Taeyeop Kim of Papaya, a Korean live mapping platform technology company, is leading the AI-based indoor positioning technology, and Professor Hanwoo Park, a Big Data network expert, will outline the things to prepare for in the era of AI. Director Sanghee Jeong of SAP Korea, a system software development company including cloud, platform, and sustainable solutions, will share the latest domestic and international content market trends, ranging from metaverse to AI and platform businesses.

Then, what kind of content industry does Contents Universe Korea pursue, and what is the goal that CUK aims to accomplish? According to the executive office, the content industry is an industry that grows with technology. The recent network environment enabled large-scale streaming services and gave birth to OTT services, and content production is being automated with artificial intelligence technology while the value of content is being accumulated as virtual assets. Amid such digital transformation, this event aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the content industry based on the transformation for the sustainable growth of the content industry and serve as a core for participation and sharing - in other words, as a MICE platform - that creates an industrial ecosystem fostering cultural technology specialists.

Contents Universe Korea 2023 will be successfully organized and operated by the Goyang Convention & Visitors Bureau, EDAILY, and OPENERDOC. The three companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on July 7 to work closely together to establish the event as a representative MICE event in Goyang and foster it into an international convergence conference on a global scale.
